1. Indicate top of quilt, if desired, with masking tape. This is helpful on wholecloth quilts, but not required.
2. The top must be clean, pressed, and threads clipped. The piece should be wrinkle free and as square as possible. Check that all seams are securely stitched and tied off. Please remove any pins or basting prior to shipping.
3. Batting & Backing, if sent by the customer, MUST be 4" larger on all sides than the quilt top. Fabric moves and sometimes things don't always line up correctly. It's a horrible thing to get to the last row of a queen size quilt and realize you are 1 inch short of backing. Be safe, include a wide margin. The batting and fabric that is trimmed away for binding will be returned to you along with your finished quilt.
4. Include fabric for binding if required, and any sketch of special instructions that might be helpful for a desired look. You have several options available for finishing the quilt. The first option is I will return the entire quilt to you in the state it comes off the frame so you may do all the binding/trimming yourself. Or I can machine stitch the binding onto the quilt top and I'll return it to you so you can hand stitch the binding to the back yourself. Another option is for me to machine stitch the binding onto BOTH the top and back. This option gives the quilt extra durability, but it's not very pretty since the stitches are easily seen. The last option is for me to machine stitch the quilt top and then I'll hand stitch the binding to the back with nearly invisible stitches, finishing the quilt completely for you. This is a very labor intensive process and requires a lot of my time to complete, prices reflect this accordingly.
5. Print and complete the Longarm Order Form and include it in the box with your quilt.
6. Complete your checkout and payment via the website. This will notify me that your quilt is on the way.
7. When I receive your quilt, I will call or e-mail you to discuss the quilting with you and an approximate finish date.
I will work with you to choose a quilting design that compliments your work. I use the pc quilter to sew out designs on the quilts. There are many websites offering designs for the pc quilter. Please explore the links below to discover which designs you would like on your top. You do not need to buy them and you will not be charged for those designs. Just notify me which ones you like and how you would like them laid out on your top.
