Gallery of past quilts

Here are images of the quilts I've created over the past few years that have gone on to find new loving homes. These quilts have already been sold, but if you see something you like you may email me about building a custom quilt for you.

Family Photo and Initials Quilt (2010)

This was another quilt commissioned by the same woman that wanted the Disney Princess Quilt. This quilt held photos of her son and daughter-in-law through the whole time frame of thier relations ship: dating, marriage, up to the birth of thier first child. They emailed me the photos they wanted in the quilt and I printed them on special chemically treated fabric that made the ink permanent. I alternated the photos with star blocks or alphabet blocks that spelled out the couple's initials. Again, we choose a fleece for the backing, this time a dark navy blue fleece. The quilting was done in a white king tut thread that showed up nicely on all the dark blue fabric but wasn't detracting from the photos. We went with the Where Eagles Dare pantograph across most of the quilt. However, in each corner I placed a highly detailed Marine's logo. The quilt turned out very cuddly and they will spend many nights cuddling on the couch with it.

Disney Princess Quilt (2010)

This quilt was commissioned by a wonderful woman that works with my husband. Her daughter-in-law was about to give birth and she wanted a custom Disney Princess quilt for the nursery. I was able to find a wonderful panel that had four of the Disney Princess in it. I also found some fabric that had small window panes of each princess or a princess's name. I used a pink fairy frost fabric called Bubblegum to create the sashing between each block. The back was another Disney Princess fabric, but it was a very soft and cuddly fleece. We selected a princess theme pantograph for the quilting that included tiaras, slippers, castles, and butterflys. The thread we selected was a beautiful variegated king tut purple and pink thread called Egyptian Princess. The binding was a deep chocolate brown since the nursery colors were pink and brown. We also had a custom quilt label created which had the baby's name, date of birth, and weight embroidered on it.  The quilt turned out lovely and I hope the baby enjoys it for years to come.

Harley Davidson Memory Quilt(2009)

This quilt was commissioned by a lovely woman that wanted to surprise her fiance with a very special quilt for Valentines day. Instead of a traditional t-shirt quilt, she wanted the blocks to be made of Harely Davidson bandanas. She also requested her fiance's name and motorcyle be embroidered in the center block of the quilt. She wanted a heart with flames that contained a banner expressing her love embroidered in the last block. I was very happy to work with her and fit every detail she wanted in the quilt. For the quilting, we picked a yellow/orange variegated thread by King Tut and longarm quilted flames across the entire king size quilt. It turned out wonderful.

Handprint Memory Quilt (2009)

This quilt was made for a first grade school teacher.  She brought me 18 squares her students had put thier names and handprints on using fabric paint.  We also had one square with the name and date of the class and one square was a photo of the entire quilt.  I connected the blocks with a simple white and blue sashing and surrounded the quilt with a six inch bright red border.  (The school colors are red, white, and blue.)  We then choose a wonderful school themed pantograph that had rulers, pencils, scissors, and apples and stitched it all across the quilt with a white thread.  It turned out beautiful.

Ivy Trapunto Wholecloth Mini Quilt (2008)

This was a small thank you gift to a coworker of my husband. I used the trapunto technique to encourage the ivy leaves on the center ring and the scroll work lines to pop off the top of the quilt. I also used micro stippling and a grid background filler to provide more texture. The fabric is another from the Fairy Frost line, lovely shades of purple and lilac over laid with glistening metalic fairy wings. This was a very small wall hanging project so I was lucky enough to finish it in two days.

Blue Christmas Watercolor Wreath Quilt (2005)

I did alot of quilts similar to this last christmas and handed them out as gifts. This was when I was just learning how to do watercolor quilts and fell in love with the simple techinque.  The red watercolor quilt below was the only one I had pictures of and it sold shortly after that picture was taken.  Thankfully, a friend of mine had taken pictures of the construction of this blue one when she was visiting me.  Camera phones are wonderful things!  These make wonderful gifts for the holidays, email me if you would like one.

Christmas Watercolor Wreath Quilt (2006)

Here is another watercolor wreath quilt in festive red, green, and gold colors.  This picture actually shows the quilting of the finished wallhanging.  I used stippling around the wreath and channel stitching in the borders.  I plan to make more of them this year for the holidays. The hardest part was finding a good floral fabric to use for the wreath. I used a dark green marble, a white with gold leaf print, and a dark red marble for the boarders. The binding was more of the dark green marble fabric. Quilting these small wallhangings was alot of fun.

Tiger Quilt (2005)

This quilt was made for a friend's husband. He wanted a manly quilt so I went with very dark earthy greens and alot of animal prints. I used a chain piecing technique to get all the little triangle pieces together. This quilt was done before I got my large quilting frame. So it had to be basted with hundreds of little pins, which you can see in the picture I was only halfway through. After it was basted I did a simple grid quilting, nothing frilly or girly for the "mans quilt". Looking back I see some irony. The central panel has 2 tigers and a new little cub. I had the pleasure of deliverying this quilt to my friend and her husband in the hospital the day after she gave birth to thier daughter. :)

Celtic Knot Bias Pillow (2005)

This was a fun little pillow I made when learning to create your own bias tape.  I made tubes out of the gold/star print and then sewed them onto the red filigree print in a celtic knot motif.  I echo quilted around the design and finished up by reinforcing all the seams in the pillow construction.

Wolf Pillows (2005)

These two pillows were made for my mother who loves all things depicting wolves.  I purchased the wolf panels and outline stitched around the animals, the trees, and even the tiny blades of grass.  I found a coordinating print and used that to make a cute little ruffle around each pillow.  She was very happy with them and I enjoyed the project.

Fox Fall Pieced Quilt (2005)

This quilt was made for my uncle as a christmas gift.  I used alot of fabrics with fall colors in the piecing process.  The center panel had a beautiful nature scene with a family of foxes.  I did grid and in the ditch quilting on the pieced blocks and a very detailed pantograph across the center pannel, consisting of several deer in various positions and leaf/flowers connections.  The second picture shows a close up of one of the deer I used in the pantograph.

Nine Patch Quilt(2004)

This quilt was made for my best friend's sister. She wanted a bright yellow center that faded to blue and then to black, to match the decor of her spare bedroom. I used a butterfly medley print as the intermediate. This is just a picture of the top. I eventually quilted the top with a pantograph of interlocking butterflys in blue and yellow thread. From what I heard she really loved it and is still displaying it in her home.
