You must bring your own sewing machine.  It must be in good working order and you need to be familiar with how your machine works.

This class teaches how to finish your completed quilts by hand or by machine.  You will be instructed on how to make your own binding from any fabric you choose.  We will go over single fold and double fold binding and when it is appropriate to use each one.

Some of the subjects addressed will be:

  • Fabric selection - the final frame for your quilt
  • Straight grain vs. Bias cut binding
  • Proper pressing techniques
  • Joining ends vs. Overlapping ends
  • Modern aids for aligning the binding on the back of the quilt
  • Mitering corners
  • And many more tips and tricks as time allows

This project only requires attending one class.  You can bring a small project you would like to practice on or a kit may be purchased for the class that includes material to practice both single fold and double fold techniques.

The total cost of the class is $20.00 and must be paid in full before the class.  That price is only for the lesson and does not include materials.  You are welcome to bring scraps from your personal fabric stash or a kit may be purchased for you to practice with.

You are welcome to contact me if you have any questions about the class.
