This is a small throw sized quilt, approximatly 55" x 55".  I pieced the quilt as a display piece for the beginners log cabin quilt class I teach at A Stitch Away.

The fabrics for the top are 100% cotton from the Fairy Frost line produced by Michael Miller.  They consist of rich hues in blue, purple, yellow, and white with a metallic overlay of gossamer fairy wings and foliage.  The camera never does these fabrics justice, but they have a truely elegant shimmering effect.  The back is a Debbie Mumm print of pale blue and purple roses in light green foliage on a background of light blue.

I used a purple/blue varigated thread from the King Tut line called Suez.  It's 100 % extra long staple egyptian cotton.  I used two quilting motifs in the blocks: a triangle of a rose in bloom for the dark areas and a triangle of scrollwork/filigree in the light areas.  The binding is a mottled deep blue fabric.  It was applied by machine with special care being taking to miter the corners.  A close up picture of the miters is provided in the thumbnails above.

The batting is 100% cotton made by the Warm Company.  This quilt is machine washable and dryable, however these are handmade items so please use the delicate cycle and low heat.  Excessive washing can cause quilts to wear faster.
